Your hands are gentle now,
So that I’ll come back to your place later
(There was something you wanted to show me,
Something you think I’d like
(but you don’t know that
I know what you’re talking about))

You are whispering obvious agreements
(Which will later be denial)
This conversation is so intimate,
You think it’s really deep,

You think I’m really intriguing
(But tomorrow you’ll forget
Everything we said as confessions)
But I know that that’s how these things happen

My number’s not important,
Only that I’m another notch on your bed post
(This number you’ll so proudly
Show to all your friends,
Call them up and brag about it now,)

And if you get up before me
You’ll just softly roll over to wake me up
So you can pretend you’re still asleep
And let me walk away
(Just to act you don’t (won’t)
remember my face in the morning)
And you’ll let me quietly leave
