Half light
By: Danny Dodger
Hours exhausted just laying there
Corpse molded into the satin sheets
Eyes open by means of dull interest
Silent dead air of a phone near her ear
Velvet black hair strung across her face
That rasped breath pressed from her lips
What a flawless smile twisted upside down
Chipped nails painted the absence of color
Limits to her unstable mentality exceeded
Paralyzed as she repeats his words over
No degree of love was saved for her
Not a drop of compassion shown
So now she lays here for now
Wide awake in the half light
As the sun set tonight
Four words not said
I love you too
