She looked beyond the stars
Beyond the Earth, Venus, and Mars
What shat she saw was only a glimpse
Not of a fantasy, like imps
She saw beauty beyond all measure
A sight many would enjoy with great pleasure
She looked where many had failed
And saw, though her vision was impaled
Being only a child she had not much knowledge
She had not even begun to think of college
So being so young how could she see
Through blind eyes it’s a wonder to me
And yet she saw a sight none had beheld
In her eyes where tears had welled
Was a twinkle of love and fright
Though later many asked, but she could not explain what had given her sight
But she’ll always remember that breath-taking scene
When blackness had finally become bright and clean
