Here's the second chapter...hope you enjoy!
“Yeah and I know it wasn’t you…but who was it Selene, why kill one of the oldest Vampires alive and not the slave?” facing him she looked at Rayne and felt like he was her son, “I mean if anything the person who did that would’ve known about him…right?”
“Not necessarily.” She said, her soft accented voice carrying the weight of her years, “he kept the boy locked up in the dungeon…the ones who did this knew the layout of the house, what his desires were, and had the help of powerful werewolves.” Rayne’s eyes widened as everything began coming together, “and if I am correct in assuming that he’s resurrected I’ll be next on his list to die.” Opening his mouth nothing would come out, getting to his feet he threw his arms around Selene and held her tightly.
“No I’ll protect you, Artemis will protect you!” Selene didn’t return the hug, but looked into the far corner of the library, she knew Artemis was there and like all Vampires he could be put under an illusion by one far older than himself…Selene had done just that many years ago to conceive her second child as a vampire…
“Enough of the waterworks Rayne, go to the human he heard our last conversation and I am worried…something pulled him away…” her eyes softened as Rayne released her, lightly kissing his forehead and watching him go she returned her gaze to the window. “Artemis…have you heard from Nemesis?” The air shifted behind her but she didn’t look, “it’s been well over six years…”
“Maybe she did die…” he said softly, something snapped her to attention whirling around she stared into his cerulean orbs “Selene?” gently touching her arms an almost sadistic smile lit up her countenance as her eyes seemed to gaze right through him “Selene!?”
“The human…” he could barely hear her words, “the human…she’s trying to take the human…” jerking out of his hold his eyes widened as she used her speed and left the room, bowing his head he clenched a hand into a fist. This was bad; if she used her powers then something was up.
“Nemesis how good to see you.” He noticed the woman stiffen before turning her head, not releasing his arm “it has been such a long time.” Swallowing he wanted to get away but couldn’t her grip was like steel!
“Yes well when your mother decides to leave you in an orphanage for six years of your life then kill you-”
“Is that what they told you?” Selene interrupted, her tone held only mild amusement, leaning against the doorframe with a chuckle “why am I not surprised, they brainwashed you as well.” She stated after a lengthy sigh, “come release the human he is of no use to you.” That only made her clench his arm tighter, biting back a yell as her nails dug into his flesh he began trembling “Nemesis listen to me.” The tone Selene was using reminded him of Xyan…she was using her power to compel the woman into letting him go. “Release him.” he felt her nail dig in deeper before she released him with a gasp, scrambling off the bed he pressed himself flat against the wall and watched both women as they stared at each other. “Now leave…you are not welcome anymore.” His eyes widened as pain etched itself on Selene’s face, the woman glared up at her before taking a deep breath.
“I will kill you, you will pay for what you did to me.” Scoffing Selene gripped the woman’s chin and brought her face closer.
“I did nothing, you ran away you fled fearing what I was willing to offer you…” she hissed before taking a step back and pointing to the door, “now leave before I kill you for trespassing.” The woman gave Selene one last glare before running out of the room without a glancing at him, slumping to his knees Vincent could stop trembling. Something moved into the corner of his eye, looking up he saw Selene kneeling before him a gentle look in her eyes. “Are you okay?” Nodding he lowered his eyes and bowed his head,
“Forgive me I didn’t know who she was I-” she covered his mouth with a cool hand, causing him to shiver even more, and shook her head.
“No it is I who should be sorry, that was my daughter.” His eyes widened at the confession, he was always told Vampires couldn’t have children…then again Xyan lied to him all the time… “She is a Dhampir and hates it with a passion that I am her mother.” She merely shrugged and gracefully rose to her feet, “will you care to join me?” Swallowing he stumbled to his feet and began following as she left the room, “I had intended Rayne on showing you around but; alas things always have a tendency to be pushed aside.” Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans Vincent had a question burning to get out…but years of slavery kept him from asking. “If you are wondering about Nemesis, my daughter,” she added at his confused look, “I tricked a human before I turned him into conceiving her.” Allowing a small grin to tug at her lips she gave a wistful sigh, “then I tricked him again into having another one this time a son.” Pausing Vincent frowned deeply, there was something his mind couldn’t grasp…a vampire child?
“But…” he let his voice trailed off wondering if she was going to hit him for asking a question, smiling Selene nodded and turned around.
“Its just a silly superstition like garlic, holy water, crosses, and sunlight. Vampires can conceive just like a normal human…it’s just a little harder because the woman can feel when she’s ready to conceive and it may drive her insane.” With that the little section of history and her past was dropped as she descended the staircase and strolled right into a room, keeping at a slow pace he didn’t know what to honestly think…here he was not being beaten on a daily basis or raped and yet, he was more confused than ever…
