“On The True Meaning Of Pessimism”

One might say that to be pessimistic is to condemn one’s fate to a never-ending cycle of monotony and misery. One might say that to be pessimistic is to bring shamefulness upon oneself, to isolate oneself from all resources meriting any beneficial factor. One might say pessimism is to doubt. Or one might say that to be pessimistic is to see the truth in life, the shadows within the blinding light. There are always shadows. One must acknowledge these shadows and pay respect, otherwise be consumed by the darkness within them yearning to get out.

This world is full of aberrant light, illuminating our fears and selfish desires, chasing away the demons so called Failure and Disappointment. Pessimism is not to doubt, but to turn out that light and see life as it really is, without the fluorescent glow, without the false hope of a pre-destined fate and a being guarding and protecting the world. Pessimism is to view the world as it would be if the shadows took over and people stopped ignoring their problems yet took action to fix the discomfort of their lives. Pessimism is merely a state of mind, nothing more, nothing less.

Pessimism is to illuminate by darkening. Only by viewing the world in blackness will humanity be introduced to the so-called light of life. Only by removing this mask, this artificial happiness, will mankind be able to start their lives anew. Pessimism is not to expect death around every corner. It is not to expect misery and discontentment. It is simply to see the world as it was meant to be seen… for truth, for contentment, but above all else for survival.
