Prologue--

Charlie(Sh-arlie) O’Malley was discovered at age sixteen at a talent competition by her soon-to-be agent, Max Naberrie. Max quickly recognized Charlie’s outstanding talent and exquisite voice; he immediately offered Charlie a record deal. But Charlie’s parents, knowing at what great cost fame came at, refused to allow Charlie to sign the contract. Max, Charlie, and her parents eventually came to the agreement that when performing, Charlie would assume the name, “Sapphire Sheldon”, and that no one would know that Charlie and “Sapphire Sheldon” were the same person except for herself, her family, a few close friends, and Max. Sapphire Sheldon quickly rocketed to fame and only a year after her first record, “Sapphire” was worth millions.

Shane Hanson had wanted to be a journalist for as long as he could remember. He had always dreamed of becoming a serious journalist, of traveling the world and seeing other places, meeting famous people and writing serious stories. But all that dreaming came to end when he got his first job…writing obituaries and marriage announcements. After over a year of doing that, the paper decided to cut back its work force, and Shane was one of the first to go. Finally after months of trying to find a new job, he did, but not the serious journalist job he’d always dreamed of. The only job he could find was at Inside Their Lives a tabloid that featured mostly true stories about Hollywood’s hottest stars.
