I wrote another poem...Imagine that...and you're all peobably like..."Great, you're writting poems but not the next chapter to Elapsed?"...Oh well, you'll get over it...
Enlighten
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see through me, or are you simply looking at me,
Seeing the surface instead of what’s beyond it,
Missing the truth and seeing only the lie.
Do you see a failure?
Someone who’s lost their chance at life,
Someone insignificant,
Not worth your time.
Do you turn away from me because of my appearance?
Am I so horrid that to see me makes you sick,
That to be in my presence eats away at your flesh,
At your soul,
Until you can’t breathe?
If I spoke to you, would you speak back?
Would you give me the pleasure of a simple conversation?
Or would that be too much
To waste on the likes of me?
If I asked for help would you ignore me?
Because I’m not like you?
Because I’m not perfect?
Or are you afraid?
I’m not perfect no.
Does this disgust you?
Does my rough complexion and unshaped form
Cause you to hate me before you know me?
If for once you pushed this all aside,
Would you look into my eyes?
Would you find it within yourself to search a little deeper
For the meaning that I bring?
Or are you afraid,
That by looking into my eyes,
By giving yourself the chance to see into my soul
That you will be sucked in,
Into the striking depths that I posses?
That by giving me the pleasure of one word,
My own will overwhelm you,
My spirit overtake your own,
And make you see how big the world around you truly is.
Do you fear the very power,
That my presence brings alone,
That feeling of unease you get,
Only because you feel so very calm when you’re near me?
Are you afraid to find me beautiful when all other don’t?
Afraid that by admitting this
You will become an outcast
Just as I have by seeing beauty where other’s cannot.
Will you aid me now, should I ask?
For surely now you know
That I will not deny you a helping hand
If ever you’re in need of such a thing.
When you give yourself the chance,
To look into my eyes,
Will you see the haven, the chance to heal,
That I offer you without complaint?
Will you see me as a person
Instead of the monster
The horror
That others have led you to believe?
Or are you still afraid?
Are you afraid that you will be forgotten,
Just like I have over the years,
Your true meaning overlooked,
And instead replaced by one given to you by people who know nothing about you?
I am here, and I offer you this chance,
A chance to look past me, look through me
Accept me
And I will love and accept you,
Help you and heal you
Speak with you and laugh with you,
Until you realize as I have,
That you are the beauty of the world
And without you I would have no purpose.
So what do you see when you look at me?
When I look at you…
I see a dark chasm waiting to be enlightened.
