Eternity

Swimming through this abyss of life The turtle thinks as he floats:
"What is there waiting for me?
What's above my world Is it Life?
Is it Eternity"
There is hush as he drifts His fins waving rhythmically with the surrounding ripples "Eternity"
He rolls the word around in his mouth Like a child tasting a peppermint The old turtle smiles "Eternity...A man's word."

He sits on an old sea rock, waiting for his audience...

The water quiets down, the sea grass stopping its waving and the fish gather around Waiting on the wise to speak.
He starts off soft:

"So much has man's word meant to him in the last few hundred years.
In all of my long, fruitful life, I have never seen Man being more careful with his dictation.
Words are powerful They bring love, joy, hope, sorrow, depression, compassion"
The old turtle pauses and sighs, looking at the colorful fish around him and smiles:

"Did you know without joy, there would be no sorrow?
Without desperation, there would be no hope?
Without compassion, there would be no love?
Without words, there would be none of these things above!
Words cut like knives, my friends!
Take them seriously, never for granted!
Your efforts shall be rewarded in the end."

He stops The fish part a way and the turtle departs, drifting on He smiles a small smile to himself and calls back:
"Eternity! Words are eternity, my friends! Remember this.
When I am gone."

HEYLO!

Well, this is a poem that just popped up into my head. This is the first of a triology of poems I will writing like this, each time the turtle will be talking. Look out for the next poem! It will be called 'Harmony'
