Running

You'd try to loose yourself in the music;
the crashing symbols beat out your old pop's shouts.
You'd choose the oddest tunes,
just to keep yourself from thinking of the past.

But songs don't sing forever, no matter what they say;
so you had to find yourself a better way.

You'd try to cancel out the leaking roof
with tales of heros with no doubts.
You'd go to worlds that just exist
in pages, in ink that'll always last.

But books aren't neverending, no matter what they say;
so you had to find yourself a better way.

You'd try to fade away into cards,
loosing yourself in each new round.
You'd search for the toughest set,
just to keep yourself solitary - alone

But puzzles can be solved, no matter what they say;
so you had to find yourself a better way.

You'd try to forget, in your video games,
but however far you delved, you could still be found.
You'd fight the whole game through,
Just hiding, shunning your blood and bone.

But all games can be beaten, no matter what they say;
so you had to find yourself a better way.

You try to walk away - to leave it all behind,
the gentle snow to hide your trail.
You'd run and run and run,
following the path that leads- nowhere...

You're no longer a child, no matter what they say;
I guess you'll have to run, to find your way.

But please don't run forever -
don't forget to check your mail.
Or run to fast - and stumble,
and miss your chance, somewhere.

You cannot run forever - that's what they always say,
So run, but don't forget your way.

I just want to see you happy,
so fly off, my sweet bird.
But don't fly back to visit,
because this world is your cage.

No one is ever free, no matter what they say,
But I hope that you can find some way...

I'll watch you fly away, wish good luck,
and turn back to the trappings of life.
Sometimes, I want to run, too.
But my cage is gilded.

Good-bye is not forever, that's what they always say.
But, for once, I hope they get their way...

I'll wave farewell from my golden perch,
mind saying scream, joints saying move,
But I can't. I can't hurt you,
like they did. Like Life did.

I'm sorry.
