The five children stood in the rain, staring at the shallow grave that held their master. They stood close together, hoping that closeness would bring the comfort they each longed for.

"He saved us all from something... and he was like a father." Winter sighed, unable to cry.

"He was more than that, he was our father. Did any of us really have anyone to call that before?" Sira smiled through her tears, remembering the only person who had acted as her parent.

"Kendra and me... he gave us shelter.. even after what we did." Aaron whispered to Sira, holding her close, trying to make the pain stop.

Kendra could not speak, she had a taste of having a real father, then it was ripped from her. From all of them.

"We have lost him, yes. But we still have everything he taught us. We cannot let his lessons die with him, we need to continue. I.. I can continue training in his place..." They nodded, still stunned, "We should leave here. This place is sacred ground now, we can continue to River Dale. I am sure we can make it there." Again, they nodded mutely, then began to leave the clearing... and their mentor.

Verryn lingered after the others, for a few moments. "That creature that killed you is gone, Master. But I know there are more like it. More demons to kill the innocent. I swear to you that there will be revenge. I.. We.. will get revenge for you. The entire race.. They will pay. Goodbye, Master Orin. See you in another life." He turned and followed the others, who would willingly follow him through anything. He was their Master.
