Lovely

She stands on the ledge,

Of a building so high,

It seems to reach for the sky.

She looks down below

At the wind and the sea

And turns slowly with a sigh.

She’d hoped for another way,

But this is her fate.

She thinks of her family

And silently says good-bye.

Dressed in a satin

Meant for her wedding day.

She had loved,

But love was lost,

There wasn’t a reason to stay.

A single tear slipped down her cheek,

How she hated to cry,

But at the thought of falling

To the rocks below,

She allows it to slip by.

There’s a knock on the door,

The louder it gets,

Pounding away her courage.

So she grasps the sides,

Leans back and sighs,

And finally just lets go.
