I used to make fun of quotes

because they were nonsense and weren't ever true

like that one quote,

"I was having the worst day...

until I saw your smile."

i thought whoever made these up

must have no life at all

just a wishful life, living in a dream.

but what i didnt know

was that it was really me

who was living in a dream.

I did a dance performance at school one day

everybody i met told me i did well

that i rocked and everybody loved me.

after the show there was a group of horrendous girls

they certainly made my day bad

calling me names, oh you know which kind,

telling me how ridiculous i was up on stage

how stupid my song was,

how badly i messed up.

i kept remembering

how my mother told me to ignore it.

i tried so hard to be nice to them

and to get past them

but my way out was blocked

and i was pushed even more.

instead of that calm cool girl i thought i could be

i ran away, trying not to let my tears fall

but the tears came anyway, against my will

home i flew and to my bed i crawled

salty tears burned my eyes

i stuffed my fists in my mouth to stiffle my cries

i couldnt take it anymore, too much in just a year

everyday of the year, one hundred and eighty days

i just couldn't hold back the gallons of tears

that've been saved up in the back of my eyes

the phone rang and i was able to cease my crying

it was just a boy calling at eight in the night

just to tell me how great i was in the show

and if i could tell him the song i danced to

because he wanted to download the song

since he thought it was such a fantastic song

at that i smiled

and knew that the quote was right

just change a word or two

and it came true

"i was having one of the worst days

until you came along..."
