Hi guys! It's Ghost Love Score. Due to the complaints I got about the grammar, spelling and what not in this chapter I have gone through and edited all of the mistakes and done some re-wording. I would also like to point out that this isn't so much about slushy, melodramatic love at first sight as irrationality and human fears. Don't let that put you off though! So, with further ado, I present, Beautiful Words

Prologue

The girl stood there, swaying uncomfortably to the monotonous music being pumped out by a band that looked like they had a major hangover. Jake had spent weeks trying to persuade her to come to this club with him, claiming that it was the most amazing place he’d ever been. Finally, to stop his irritating nagging, she’d agreed and along with a bunch of their friends had come for a night out at ‘Ozone’.

Why the hell had she agreed?

She searched the faces of the crowd to see if she recognised anybody. Jake had said he was only going to be a few minutes. He wanted to get the both of them drinks and say hi to a couple of people. Leah was probably at the bar consuming an amount of alcohol that just stopped short of lethal. Matthew, was no where to be seen. He’d probably sneaked out of the club to go get food and smoke until the others would finish. He hated clubs. Anne was most likely off with some guy doing, God knows what. When she turned back to the stage she saw the band had been replaced by another. Four guys, the guy on lead guitar singing a song about…She paused, listening to it closely. Not the words, the song. It was sad, yet hopeful. It was about loving and losing. A lump formed in her throat and even though it defied all the logic and reasoning that she had acquired over her whole life, she felt sad.

Then he looked at her.

The guy at the front, on lead guitar looked straight at her. He had grey-green eyes and for a moment she couldn’t breathe. He didn’t take his eyes off of her. He smiled. And she smiled too. Suddenly she felt like the only person in the crowd, the only person in the whole world even. It was bliss, it was amazing, and it was soothing. The song ended and she felt a hand on her shoulder, pulling her away from her fantasy.

“Hey” she turned around and was faced with Jake smiling and holding a bottle out towards her, “Enjoying yourself?”

“Yeah”, she forced out a smile. She couldn’t help but feel guilty. No, she told herself, it’s ridiculous. He’s a complete stranger, playing at a club. He shouldn’t have this affect on you, “The band’s good”.

“Yeah. Tristan puts his heart and soul into his music. I don’t understand any of it personally”.

“Tristan?”

“Yeah, my older brother. The lead guitarist.” he indicated the guy on stage. She followed his finger and she saw that ‘Tristan’ was looking back at them. Jake waved and she felt her stomach fall away. No, no, no… Tristan waved back and before he started the next song he looked at her one more time but she couldn’t read the expression in his face.
