Once upon a time

My world was hand-made

Laying between four walls

Sky resting on maternal eyes

Earth set on father’s shoulders

Head between the stars

Feet steady among the clouds

Once upon a time

I was small, too young

A follower, mere learner

Unafraid of heights

Seer of dreams

While weaving illusions

Once upon a time

I grew up, changed slowly

Growing into something else

Outgrew my clothing

House, my safety

Tried shoes no longer large

Once upon a time

I jumped away, faced freedom

Climbed down from the clouds

Played in the harsh Earth

Not a learner but a teacher

Not a follower, now a guide.

Once upon a time

I was no more, child gone

Now a human walking

Where no being can lead

Looking towards the sky

Touching dreams

Naive hopes.

Once upon a time

I was me, grown flower

Walking beneath the sun

With no guide

Just my self

With no home

Just my shell

Goodbye, dear mother

Farewell, gentle father

My heaven grew too faint

Too small, now too far.

Once upon a time

I was myself, nothing else

And another story began.
