Soar above the blades,
no crimson on emerald glades.

My heart, numb, and painless,
unscarred and uncarresed.

Well back from the cliff I stand,
always afraid I might crash-land.

Rhythms of love echo and sing,
millions dance to its ensnaring ring.

Yet still I hold my fingers in my ears.
awall put up to repel my fears.

I want no part in a world of pain,
I only see destruction, not what I could gain.

No tender touch for my lonely heart,
I still have an unsung part.

For love is still a well-known mystery,
encompassing all from rapture to misery.

There are no notes to learn before this ‘test’,
my heart aches, but lies vulnerable in my chest.

But, curiosity filling me to the brim,
one day I’ll take a step towards the rim.

With many a glance, unsure, behind,
I’ll reach the abyss, unfathomable by my mind.

Then, dressed naïve, white as a dove,
I’ll jump from safety straight into love.
