In an overheated room,

Two fans on full blast.

She checks the time,

Slowly counts to one hundred

One number

Per rhythmic breath.

She checks the clock again,

The number faded

Against the bright blue screen..

The figure on the bed

Pushed against the wall,

Still as a statue,

Fast asleep.

The extra person

On the floor

Rolling over,

But equally

As out cold.

Only one person

In the whole hall

Awake at this hour.
