"We broke up."
It wasn't teasing - joking - it was certainty in your voice. But I laughed anyway, shook my head.
"You're joking"
"No, I'm not."
You were serious. Too serious for joking. Your eyes looked into mine in a detached way - a look I'd never seen with you before.
"You're serious?"
My own voice sounded uncertain while yours was the complete opposite.
"Yeah. She just wanted to be friends."
Just friends? So had I lied to him back then - back on that day? Had I lied to him when I said that she loved him, that he needn't worry about anything? How long ago was that, anyway? I don't even remember.
He just sort of stood there and I just sort of stood there. We both just sort of stood there. Just standing there.
