The Story Unwritten

A new beginning

And I don’t know how to start it.

New pages

And the words don’t seem to fill them.

New thoughts

That don’t come out when worded.

A fresh page

That seems to be so empty.

Words on paper

Express themselves

But first you have to find them.

People come alive

But yet they seem so lifeless.

Imagination takes thought

But only when you don’t draw blank.

Skill is what is needed

In the tale of wit.

They want happy endings

So you write them against your will.

They want shining armor

And the man tall and strong.

You give them what they want

But yet it seems so wrong

So in your “happy ending”

You write a mournful song.

They got their “dark and handsome”

And “woman dressed in white”

But in your secret ending

It ended with a fight.

Not all stories are perfect

And you are living proof.

You show your pain through things you’ve made

But no one’s got the clue.

So you live your life

The best you can…

Is good enough?

...

I’ll not be judging

Even if you lose it all

For I’ll be there to catch you

When and if you fall.
