When I was a young teen.

I would have went out with

Any guy who asked.

Just to be needed and loved,

And hopefully to find,

A love that would last.

I looked for a hero to

Rescue me from the chaos

At home.

Mom and dad arguing,

Dad always right about

Everything.

Dad always hurting everyone.

“Rescue me, take me away

From here.,”

I’d hope for a savior.

“Be the man he could never be.

I’ll look up to and love you.

Oh father figure, oh boyfriend,

Won’t you rescue me?”
