There is no match

to “I Love You”

there’s an opposite,

but there is no equally

beautiful or stronger

declaration of the way

“I” could

ever “Love”

the “You”.

No longer an emotional state

coined as a generic label

for an abstraction

we crave to solidify.

Because it would be easier

to give and receive

something visible,

something new,

and because the abrasiveness

and density

of the three-worded-strand

has become diluted

like a slogan or jingle

we mindlessly brush off

and pass on,

to parrot and deliver

without considering the meaning.
