Eyes close slowly,

Lost inside a world of her own.

Comforting music drones on,

Familiar words her lips follow,

And the melody sings along.

Memories are all that’s left,

Holding her back, against the current,

Her mind and heart confused,

The past clinging desperately,

And clawing it’s way through.

Watching someone new,

Gazing longingly after him,

Without a single word at all,

Admiration, Observation, and Silence,

Dare she even make a move?

Notice me; she wants to cry out,

Her pride clamps her mouth shut.

All the what ifs and should I,

Crowded inside her mind,

And numbers jumbled on the paper.
