I can’t take this much longer,

Waiting for your lips to part,

Anticipating that soft voice,

Daring you to break my heart.

I know you see me,

I’ve often watched your eyes,

Cascading in my direction,

And darting back like flies.

I can’t begin to comprehend,

What’s taking you this long,

Stalking you in theory,

Writing you a silent love song.

I know you want to speak,

Things like these I can tell,

Turning and contemplating a question,

And saved a decision by the bell.

I want you to look at me,

And look at me real hard,

I want you to open your mouth,

And say something, even tart,

I want you to stand up straight,

And look me square in the eye,

I want you to tell me No, girl,

I hate you, and make me cry.
