AN: I apologize for the angst. But what's a poem without against?

"A Life Divided"

Brothers and sisters
Husbands and wives
Fathers and mothers
Now must divide

What are these words?
What do they mean?
Does anything matter?
Everything does to me

A family now divided
Some here, some there
It was all decided
Without even a care

So much hate
So much scorn
Pass through the lips
Of so many so torn

Tears have fallen
Time and again
Hearts have broken
How will they mend?

Mother against father
Parent against child
Brother against sister
How did it become so wild?

I remember a family
Not model, but together
I remember a life
Not perfect, but whole

There is nothing that can be done
It’s already decided
This is my life now
A life divided
