There are a thousand universes
waiting at every stoplight;
so much more than red-yellow-green,
right or left? (He left. She’s right.)
Straight on the sable thread runs,
stitching together the countryside
A thousand restless souls
in aluminum cans
A million eyes watching,
divided by

There are a thousand universes,
in each, a different story –
but the same characters
caught up in the quixotic flow
(and ebb) between the lines
With myriad worlds dewing in the night sky
And infinite dashes on the freeway
This is a thousand universes
in one turn.
