That's Funny

Does your heart sting so now that you know the threat of opposition?
Does it burn with lust now that you trust your conscious self-rendition?
Do you ever wonder why you live or what it is to die?
That's funny because long ago I thought that so did I.
But times will change--and folk will not--as ages pass us by.
Do you hope that you can learn what's true before your mind must die?

Do you shed your tears and pray for years of happier tomorrows?
Does your faith belay your heart's dismay in spite of all your sorrows?
Do you ever ask why others die while you know you will not?
That's funny because long ago that answer I too sought.
But times don't change--and people do--as ages are forgot.
Do you hope that time will leave behind its mark upon your lot?

That's funny. I do not.
