Misty Melody

Late one summer evening

Mist rolls down the mountains from the sea

A haunting song breaks the night

A mournful call rising to the stars

As the full moon rises

The swirling silver veil parts

On the lake swims a black bird

Beads of water roll down its back

Like glistening aquamarine jewels

A blanket of stars spread across its wings

A necklace of moon adorns its graceful neck

Eyes redder than the fires of the sun

Brest whiter than the snow

Dives beneath the surface

A living torpedo

A Northern Loon
