The silence of the mind

This losing battle

Enter in

that empty sanctuary

Before you even know it

you're sitting there again

Fingers on

the cool keys of ivory

I don't know what to play

I wait for it to come

and wash over me

And it's silent all day long

You saw it coming

I had it in my hands

Enter in

the teen room

where everyone is the best friend

they know you all too well

and they never even

bothered to join you

somewhere else

So we smile

and we laugh

and before you even know it

you run off and you cry

Like I've only done

one thousand times before

And who do you want

to follow you

He's just a boy

He's just a boy

and nothing more

who has someone else

to go crazy for

I forgot that song

I used to sing

the one that was so definate

I think it mentioned wind chimes

and now I'm just so

far from it

There was a warning whisper

that you refused to hear

and now you're

on the floor again

and he's not coming in

because he's taken in

by her

Life was playing a trick on me

somehow you wander back

into that lonely sanctuary

From the pew

to the ground

to underneath

that beloved piano

that won't ever vocalize

what I have to say

So it's everyone's fault

and you're just the fool

and before you even know it

Before you're even sane again

You get up and you play

Like always
