Yellow rose

Your face is inscribed on that evening,
That night, that lifetime,
That second that lasted for all of that lifetime.
Your visage is sealed by that starlight,
By the us in that twilight
By the screen of kisses shrouding the moon.
Left of the window, the tree that you hid by
Blowing smoke rings through the September air.
Sweetheart.
Shimmers through the limes.
The Indian summer lingering another year,
The dark bark beneath my fingers,
The scratches from your boots,
And my bitten nails,
And our secret whisperings drifting through these trees,
Rest well my love,
God bless.
