Untold Wishes of My Soul
©Holly Charlton
I never wanna break it (the silence)
I never wanna wake up (from dreaming)
The candle reflections in the mirror
Reveal untold wishes of my soul
The beautiful things you could write
If only you could
Summon up your fragile inspiration
Fill the pages before dawn
The crystallized honey leaves it's mark
The craters of the moon
Take a new look, from a new angle
From underneath the frozen pond
Starry blots in the barren sky
Sparkle like fresh new dew
The empty wine cups that spurred those sultry words
The red lips of the seductress that spoke them
Flowing passion from many places
Surging, tearing out
Rushing, moving about
The leaves that die for Winter
The snow that melts for Spring
The lilacs and daffodils that wilt for Summer
The sun that fades for Autumn
The leaves that die for Winter...
A forever circle, continual, forever cycle
But never de ja vu
365 days around the sun
24 hours to fully rotate
93 million miles from the sun's heat
Endless galaxies to never reach, never mind explore
25,000 miles to trek this earth's width
My candle flickers, protesting,
Pleading I put it out before it reaches its wick
Resistant flame, always conquers
It runs the world with heat, light, energy
But can ravage all, too.
Why write about death, pain and misery
When you can write fantasy, happiness, beauty
Reality can bestow beauty, even if it hides it
Perhaps only meant for some to find
Those that look hard enough
Open your eyes, take away the veil
Anyone can find happiness in even the darkest times
If they simply open their eyes
my candle has burnt out
