A Tribute to the Bridge over the Seine Near Argenteuil

The water radiates stunning lilac,

Seeping quietly like a mass of melted wildflowers.

This gentle pool vicariously

Balances a set of sailboats, which bob inaudibly

Amongst the dilapidated current.

From this violet speckled water

Sprouts two columns of firm stone,

Reaching their sturdy masses to the sky.

From these slabs of rock,

A bridge is formed.

Golden and marbled

By the presence of age.

Underneath this immobilized surface

Grows a supportive archway,

Stretching it’s gallant hands from

Stained column to stained column.

This bridge is strong, fertile,

And stands to contain a speckle

Of miniaturized people who journey

To witness the spectacular view.

Above this entire scene, the sky burns

A chaos of colors:

Turquoise, vanilla blue, sea green,

Egg white, subdued purple, creamy watermelon.

Intermittent in this rainbow are

Clouds of lurid orange flame,

Beckoning the water below to reflect

It’s nonconformity.

In the distance, a rounded mountaintop

Peaks its murky brown altitude with

A putrid fortifying glare.
