Cheshire Morning
9.20.06

It was 9:45 when I blinked, but
some coiled snake struck the clock
and scared ten minutes off its life,
leaving me with only a serpentine shell
of what might have been.

This is a universal Dali creation,
piecing time together with putty and yolks,
sliding faces onto a drunk minute.

Still white rabbiting, I notice
as each footfall sizzles with my coffee
and my smile fades into the bell.
