For a Friend.

So they’ve given you a baited hook,

that don’t mean you should bite.

They’ll answer all your questions,

but that doesn’t make them right.

They’ve pointed out a path for you,

but their path is not the best.

They may try to challenge you,

You don’t have to take their test.

Just stay you,

though and though -

You’re tougher than you know.

And the more you fight their twisted ways,

the stronger you will grow.

So they’ve given you a baited hook,

that don’t mean you should bite.

Cause when they tell you you’re not good enough

That’s your cue to fight.

Fight those who bring you down

By pursuing all your dreams

Regardless of what they may say...

They’re weaker than they seem.

This was written...for a friend... I guess just cause of the way society is, there’s so much pressure on us to be ‘perfect.’ Perfect grades, perfect body, perfect life... As if there’s any such thing, right? People might try to make you into something you’re not, but as this poem says, if they don’t have your best interests at heart, “their way is not the best”. So to anyone who’s ever felt the pressure to fit in or pursue some unrealistic ideal... this one’s for you.
