BAD, SAD, HORRIBLE ME

To those who don’t know me,

I would like you to be aware of that.

To those who don’t sleep und the same roof I do,

Please remember next time you tell me something.

You who don’t act like I act,

You don’t know what I’ve been through.

So don’t think I’m weird or crazy.

To those who think I go to bed smiling,

I’m sorry, but that isn’t real for me.

You who look at me, saying my life’s been good,

Don’t deceive yourselves because lately it’s been bad.

For those of you who think I’m secretive,

They are only secrets to my parents and acquaintances.

I share with my friends who care.

And you, who say I’m a strong woman, take a look at what I see.

I’m thinking it’s not so good.

To those who just hear “I’m good.”

Listen closer. I’m telling you my secret.

I really don’t have the perfect life you think I have.
