Hanging on

I clutch at you desperately

I want you to hold me when I cry

I’m hanging on tight to you

At those ties that bind us.

Now that tie is drawn taught

A string on a bow and arrow

Fraying from pressure

I want you to hold me tight.

I’m still hanging on to you

Even though you’re cold

Even though you never seem to care

I don’t ever want to let you go.

Would I ever see you again?

Would you speak to me if you did?

You never seem to listen

And you never seem to care.

I can’t seem to let you go

Cause you’re the only one who called my name

The only one who was there

The only one who saw me so long ago.

I can’t let that bond snap

I won’t let our friendship die

So I’m hanging on desperately, fearfully

Because I don’t want us to end.
