A/N: Well, time to prove that I’m still hale and hearty. Haha. I’m midway through my final year exams now..once these are over, I’ll finally be FREE. UGH. Anyway, I found an old poem of mine while I was reading through my blog archives..written in March of this year. I was experimenting with free verse, though I don’t think I did a very good job. Oh well. That’s up to you guys to decide. :) Remember to review!

Loneliness
Creeping up slow
Snaking cold tendrils around my heart

The poison spreads, inch by inch
Destroying everything that is light
Leaving a dark, empty wasteland behind
It's not cold
It's just lonely.

I see the illusion
I try to break free
But cold waves break over me
The wind blows, whispering
You'll always be alone
They drag me down again
Lock me in this prison
Of icy solitude.

I stand alone
In the crowd
Watching everyone walk by
I smile
They say hi
And walk right past me.

Voices, sounds, whispers, noise
Wash around and over me
All loud, all meaningless.
I don't understand.
They talk to me
They look at me
Waiting.
For what?

Loneliness.
Dark, black, all-consuming.
Cold.
But also quiet.
Peaceful.
Silent.
