Of Hopes and Dreams

The hopes I dreamed of

One day having-

Trampled to fragments

In these tears I cry,

In these raindrops

Falling from a heavy heart.

\

A harsh shatter resounds

In the hidden

Reclusive spaces

Of my tortured soul;

Decorated

With flowing, scarlet scars.

\

The dreams I hoped would

One day change, from

Distant day dreams to

My reality,

With our love, died

A silent suffocation

\

Since replaced with his rage

And his hatred,

The one thing to touch

His cold, guarded heart

Fragile beneath

A body still strong and sure.

\

We once gave love freely,

Gave of ourselves.

And we lived and loved

With such passion

And abandon,

Both completely committed.

\

He and I- we shared hearts

And shared hopes.

Now we’ve lost our dreams

To unshared sorrows;

All we have left

Are trails of tainted tears.

A/N: This poem I actually turned into a song. It's been tweaked a bit, but I still love it to pieces!
