He waited quietly outside
Thoughts rushing through his head
If only he had been there
To tell her what he never said

He paced about the hallway
This was a never-ending torment
Wishing he could do this over
Wondering where all their time went

His strong arms around her

And she knew that he was scared
He held her even closer
She loved how much he cared

She had to tell him
She wanted to stop waiting
She needed him forever
But could feel it slowly fading

She closed her eyes
He knew he’d really miss her
He gently kissed her lips
And with her last breath she whispered

I love you
I love you
I…
