I wanted to write you a letter, yesterday,

But I just couldn’t find the words to say,

It’s been hard to think about you lately,

Reasons why escape me at the moment,

Although, I’m sure, you could find a few,

I started, but all I got was: I miss you.

Was this really the way it was supposed to end?

Or, is this a temporary intermission?

It was like forgetting the predicate to us,

Or maybe we forgot to use a verb,

Either way, I can’t believe it’s been so long,

Why aren’t we talking? What went wrong?

I saw your mother just last week,

I found it rather too difficult to speak,

But we conversed, nevertheless,

And she felt enriched, I expect.

I know you’re busy, and don’t have time,

I think I’ve moved on, at least, tried.
