Cradlesong

Sleep in peace, my love, sleep in peace

ignore the lingering cold.

Don't be saddened by the rainfall

or frightened by the storm.

Don't let the creeping darkness make you tremble.

There's a feather from an angel's wing that's lying on your pillow

and every star in heaven knows your name.

Somewhere, someone's playing a lullaby for you

while the last red rose of autumn sings along.

And that last exquisite melody, that sends you now to sleep,

is wishing you good voyage on that moonlit sea of dreams.

So sleep in peace, my love, my lamb;

sleep all night long in peace.

And all the snowflakes, falling down,

will each kiss you sweet goodnight.
