Speak Up!

There is nothing more horrifying

Or exhilarating

Than to stand – metaphorically speaking – naked

Upon a crowd

To actually say what you want to say

To remove society’s rigid harness

That chokes creativity and expression

Freedom of speech

Senseless oppression

To boldly go where everyone goes

Dodge sticks and stone,

But instead, brave blows to your soul

Mockery of your principles

Indignation at your words

Frustration

Anger

Discrimination

One-sided arguments

Blah…blah...blah…blah…blah…

The same fucking crap day by day

So… are you still afraid?

To speak up?

Don’t worry!

You can do it!

Just breathe in

And then breathe out

Open your mouth

(And hope stupid shit doesn’t come out)

Then say what you have to say

You’ll realize (with underlying fear)

Woo!!! You’ve done it!!!

…There is goes (you dumb ass)

You and your big mouth

Feh – now it’s out

(A/N: did anyone get that underlying sarcasm? P just kidding, but as the poem says, as much as I appreciate freedom of speech and diversified opinions, thinking about what you're going to say for AT LEAST 30 seconds before you let loose your indignant, dogmatic tirade saves the world a WHOLE lot of grief...
