Believe me, I know

I know that I’m not always
the very best of persons
But when I smile at you
with hollow eyes,
can you not pretend
(Just like I do).
And I know
that my spine sometimes tends to break
(Oncetwicetrice times)
when the memories grow even more heavy
upon my shoulders.
But can you not let me rest my cold hand on you arm
this time
Can you not kiss me,
help me to forget
(Even if it’s only for a very brief everlasting second).
I promise that your indifference wouldn’t hurt more
than the shards of glass in my veins.
