The Consequences of Obsessing Over Vampires
By: xoxstorii-gurrlxox
Chapter 17:
RECAP:
"Deylinn and I went through a book Ann. I know it's impossible to believe. But we need you right now. We need you to help us."
"Help you with what?"
Akasha answered this time, "We need your help against Brad. We have come to a conclusion of the fact that he is lonely, and now that, that book left him to be with Katie, he has got no one. Since you are writing a book about all of us, we figured you would be able to help us."
"I'm sorry, I can't help story book characters." Ann got up, walked to the door and opened it wide. "The door is this way ladies. Thank you for dropping by, I had fun.
"But.." Katie stammered.
"Out!" Ann screamed.
Katie and Akasha burst outside. Tears starting to come slowly out of Katie's eyes. "Now I'll never get home." Akasha and Katie hugged.
"We'll just have to find a different way. Don't worry baby, I'll get you home. I promise." Akasha smiled.
Katie and Akasha started walking back to where they came from, slowly, sadly. Little did they know though, that Miss. Ann Rice was staring out the window, scared of what to do.
With Others...
"What do you mean we look like twins?" Damien questioned the two ladies.
"Exactly what I said." Sophie replied. "You guys look exactly alike. I don't know how its possible, but apparently it is very, very possible."
"But I never had a brother before. I only ever had a sister." Damien protested.
"Yeah me too." Deylinn argued.
"Boys. Stupider every generation." Susie muttered.
"I resent that." Brad acted offended.
"Hey- you!" Brad looked at Sophie, as if to ask if she was talking to him. "Yeah you, you are suppose to be evil, so quit acting like you ain't. You hear?"
Brad nodded his head, scared. "Yeah. Sure, whatever you say."
"Oh my God, where the hell is she?" Damien roared.
"Where is who?"Sophie asked confused and startled at his sudden outburst.
"You're cousin and his girlfriend." Damien retorted.
"She's not my cousin." Sophie said, right down angry now.
"What? But you said she was. How can she not be?" Deylinn and Damien both looked at eachother.
"No, we told people that so they wouldn't know the real truth."
"And the real truth would be what?" Damien asked.
"We are step sisters." Sophie said.
Deylinn's mouth dropped to the floor. "Wha? How come she never told me that?"
"She wasn't allowed to." Deylinn raised an eyebrow questioning. "We swore before she met you, to never tell a soul we were sisters."
Sophie collapsed to the floor suddenly, holding her head tightly. "My head!"
"What's wrong?" Damien rushed over worriedly.
"I don't know, it just started hurting, it seems like someone is talking to me."
"Who?" Dorion asked.
"I.. I don't know. Just make it stop!!" Sophie howled.
With Katie...
"Katie! Wait!" Screams were heard from the down the deserted street. Katie turned around slowly.
"Ann?"
"Huh?" Akasha asked turning around too. "Oh God what does she want?"
"I don't know." Katie answered.
The two waited for the crazy woman to catch up with them. When she finally reached them she was breathing heavily and carrying the black book.
"Finally... I... caught... up..to.. you...guys." She breathed.
Akasha looked irritated, "what do you want?"
Anne looked up shocked, since she was expecting a way different approach. "I thought I would help."
"We asked if you wanted to, and you said no. Why the change of mind?" Akasha growled
"Settle down, Akasha." Katie warned.
Anne look truthfully petrified, "I... I thought about it, and I decided to help. Afterall, Katie is my biggest fan and I can't let a fan down."
Akasha grew angrier with every word, "Whatever. Come on, we don't have much time."
Katie nodded, "right, let's go." The three of them took off down the long ending road.
With Deylinn...
"God, I am so freaking bored!" Damien screamed, making the walls echo.
"Well we just have to wait till they come back." Deylinn replied.
"This wall is sure getting more painful with every hour I sit here ya know." Damien barred his teeth.
Deylinn wiped the sweat off of his forehead, and sighed. "Come on Damien, be patient."
"I am patient!" He roared again. "I have been waiting here for hours!"
"Well maybe than I should make you wait another couple hours." A girlish voice giggled from the shadows.
"Katie? Akasha?" Damien squinted to see. "I think I am hearing things."
"Well if you are just hearing things than we might all be going crazy." Sophie pointed out.
"You ain't hearing things. Gees, Akasha, I think we left them for too long. " Katie laughed again. "They are all going crazy."
"Glad you think this is funny." Deylinn growled.
"Ooo, someone is becoming fiesty. I like that in man." Katie laughed hysterically at this and Akasha joined in.
Deylinn blushed and turned away, "Well what are you waiting for? Spring? Hurry up and get over here."
Katie and Akasha came walking out from the shadows, with a woman carrying a big black book. "Whose that?"
Everyone shrugged, Deylinn looked harder at the figure. "Anne?"
"Oh hello Deylinn, how's life these days?" She smiled and sat down close to Katie.
Deylinn stood there dumbfounded than shook himself from his reverie. "What? Why are you here?"
"I have come to help. And it's quite rude to stare boy." Deylinn looked away quickly.
"Dey, I found out that we didn't go through that book by accident." Deylinn lifted up his eyebrow questioning. "Anne has been writing her new book, and well, we are the two main characters in it."
"Wait, what?" Sergei asked popping up from his crammed position.
"How is that possible?" John questioned next.
"We don't know, all we know is that we can change it!" Katie replied ecstatic. " We can make it so Brad is good, and that we can go home."
"Well that's all and dandy but what about this little problem we have discovered." Deylinn scringed at Katie's burst bubble.
"What problem is that Dey?" Katie was furious. "If you haven't noticed we don't have much time before we are stuck ehre forever."
"Okay. So Katelyn, when were you going to tell me that you had a step sister?" Delyinn raised his voice.
Katie looked taken aback."W.. what?" Katie than glared at Sophie and she ran behind Damien.
"I'm sorry Katie, it just kinda came out." Spohie's voice went to a high scared pitch.
"It just came out?" Katie's voice was also raising. "It can't just come out Sophia! What the hell is wrong with you? We promised never to tell anyone, and the first chance you get, you tell everyone?!"
"Katie, chill out, it's alright really." Damien tried.
"No! No, it's not alright Dey-" Katie looked at where the voice came from. "Damien."
"You were about to call him Dey, why?" Deylinn asked curiously.
Katie looked confused than looked at Deylinn, "I thought it was you."
"Oh, yeah, that's what happens when two people sound the same."
"I never noticed it before." Katie's than went wide and she snatched the book from Anne.
"Katie, what are you doing?" Anne asked puzzled.
"No.. that's not it... no that's not it either." Katie flipped the page. "Found it."
"Found what exactly?" Susie asked, puzzled like everyone else.
"I found what I missed when I wasn't here. God, you guys sure have the oddest conversations."
"Katie, and what did you find?" Akasha asked.
"The part where Sophia says that Deyy and Damien are twins, and how Sophie spills our little secret." Katie answered, she looked at Anne. "Why would you do that Anne?"
"I never did nothing."
"Liar. Anyway, I want to go home. So fix this problem you created." Katie threw the book at Anne. "Now!"
"Okay, okay." Anne opened to a blank page, and started writing.
"Well read it out loud." Damien demanded.
Anne glared, but listened none the less. "Katie's infatuated obsession with vampires did put her in a very bad perdicament, Deylinn and her were stuck among the living dead. As Brad sat in a corner, planning his next evil move everyone sat in a circle deciding on what to do next. Coming up with nothing, they scattered, talking amongst themselves about nothing in particular. Brad sought this oppurtunity to strike, he grabbed Sophia by the mouth holding a stick to her neck. Everyone turned sharply at her deathening scream.
"Katie!" Deylinn yelled. "What are we going to do?"
"Why do you always ask me?" Katie questioned.
Deylinn had no answer. "I don't know."
"Will someone get this thing off of me! Now!" Sophia screamed.
"Brad, what is wrong with you? You have been sitting here with us for the past four hours and you choose this time to attack?" Susie asked.
"I.. well.. yes. Yes I do. It was the perfect time since you baffoons were too busy to figure out how to get the hell out of this place."
"Brad, you are not evil. You think you are, but you aren't." katie tried.
"What do you mean? Of course I am evil, I made you kill yourself for someone else. I made you be in pain, as goes for the rest of you."
Katie shook her head in disagreement. "No brad. You are not evil. If anything you are lonely. Being cooped up in this god forsaken castle, without anyone but a book."
"I hope that wasn't suppose to be insulting." The book looked offended.
"No. It wasn't." Katie than turned back to Brad. "Come on Brad, don't deny it. We all know you are. You never attacked anyone earlier because you actually weren't lonely so you know what it's like to have friends, and maybe someone to love."
Brad slowly let go of Sophie. "I.. I think you are wrong Katelyn. You think you have such a perfect life. Friends, someone who loves you and you love back, and a mom who actually cares. Well FYI, you don't. No one's life is perfect. You make it seem all so easy, but in reality it really ain't. And now I am going crazy cause all of what has happened what because of a simple plain person writing down a story that came from her head."
Katie looked at the infuriated Brad with mixed emotions. "Brad," She tried.
"No! I don't want to hear any of it. I am a real person! I have lived and died, and lived again but I will never die again. You don't know what that's like Katelyn. You don't have to live forever, without no one beside you. You have Deylinn, someone to, talk to someone to love you. And what do I have? I have nothing!" Tears could be seen starting to brim his eyes.
"But that doesn't mean you have to be nothing forever, you can have all those things Brad." Katie was now feeling sorry for him, but she knew that nothing could be done. It was up to him to change.
"So uh, Anne are you single?" Sergei came up and asked her.
"Sergei, I am in the middle of writing. Do you mind?" Anne asked irritated.
"Oh, yeah go right on ahead writing." Sergei left.
Anne sighed, she couldn't write anymore, she had no idea what to put. She walked slowly over to Katie, who was standing in front of Brad and Sophia. "Katie, I can't write anymore. I have got writer's block." She whispered softly.
Katie looked at her favorite author with pity in her eyes. "Well, just make another character come into play, and write that Brad fell in love with her and vice versa." Katie suggested.
"You know, that might just work." Anne smiled and went back to her little corner and started to write like mad.
"A knock suddenly sounded at the door. Everyone looked around confused, startling some. "Well is someone going to answer the door?" Katie asked.
"Well it's his house, let him answer it." Damien replied, pointing to Brad.
"How am I suppose to do hold a hostage and answer a door?" Brad asked stupidly.
Katie rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'll get the freaking door." She stormed off, "Lazy people."
Katie came back moments later, followed by a young woman. Her hair was in two braids, falling out of them, putting her face into a finer defintion. Her clothes looked like they came from royalty. "Look who I found guys. A little wanderer, um, wandering around." Katie laughed. The woman smiled shyly.
"I don't mean to intrude, but I have come a long way from where I used to be. And well I found myself lost, so I came here, looking for help." She looked at Brad holding Sophia. "But it looks like I came at the wrong time. I am sorry to have disturbed you."
She started walking back the way she came, "No, don't go." Brad suddenly yelled, surprising everyone.
She turned slowly, "Are you sure? I really didn't mean to intrude."
Brad smiled assuringly, "No, no. You didn't intrude miss."
Brad let go of Sophia and walked towards this strange woman. She smiled softly, her brown eyes full of appreciation. "Thank you."
Brad turned a light pink and took her hand, "Welcome to my home Miss?"
"Oh how rude." She laughed lightly, "My name is Princess Syeira, I came from the land called Amaya, which means night rain in my language."
"How nice to meet you. I am Lord Brad Kootan." He smiled and kissed her hand gently.
"The pleasure is mine. Tell me Brad, why are all these people here?"
Brad turned around and faced all of us. "Right." He walked over to Katie. "You are free." He whispered.
"Really?" He nodded.
"But be gone before I change my mind." Katie turned around to go tell the others, Brad grabbed her arm. "Be safe."
Katie smiled, "I told you Brad." He lifted his brow puzzled. "I told you that you weren't evil. And now, you have fallen in love." She kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you."
He nodded again, and walked back to Amaya. Katie smiled and ran over to Deylinn, "Dey, we are free!" Katie laughed joyously.
"I never knew we were prisoners." Deylinn looked at her.
"Oh, well it doesn't matter. We can go home now!"
"Than what are we waiting for?" Deylinn grabbed her hand and dragged her to the door.
"Dey?" He stopped abruptly, and looked at her, with his puppy dog look. "Oh, don't look like that, what about the others, hello?"
He blushed. "Right."
"Okay, whoever does not live here, hurry up and get your asses out of this castle!" Katie screamed at the top of her lungs, everyone started rushing to the door.
"Anne?" Katie started shaking her lightly.
"Hm? Oh Katie, what is it?" Anne smiled tiredly up at Katie.
"Come on, we can go now. I'll take you back home."
Anne nodded, she stood up stiffly. Making sure she was going to keep her balance, she stood there. Satisfied she walked towards the door, smiling crazily.
"What's got into you?" Katie asked.
"I just finished my book Katelyn, and it's all thanks to you." Anne smiled wider.
Katie blushed a dark pink, "thanks, but I didn't do anything really."
"Yes you did. You forced me to finish it." Anne looked at Katie. "If I didn't you would have been stuck down here forever, and I would never have known."
Katie laughed, "Well it just goes to show, never under estimate the power of friends."
"Yeah," Anne walked through the door, leading to the cold frigid earth.
"But next time, try and keep my name out of your book." Katie said. "I don't feel like being in another story."
"It's a deal." Anne laughed, running to catch up with the others.
"Katelyn, what about me?" A voice asked behind her, she whipped around surprised, than smiled once she seen who it was.
"Whatever you want to book." Katie replied.
"I want to be with you." The book answered back, Katie smiled already knowing what he was going to say.
"Alright, let's go home than. Shall we?"
"Okay." They started walking towards the other, taking their time. Well tectnally, Katie was walking and Book was floating. "You know Katie, I never used to be a book."
"Really?" She asked astonished.
"Yeah. I was a vampire, a very powerful one. The one who made vampires exist. Of course this was before the witch era, and well once they came, they feared us. Thinking that since we knew dark magic we would over throw their power and make them salves. So they all teamed up and turned me into this book. And ever since than I have been passed down for centuries, finally landing in Brad's hands."
"Wow, and to think, I thought I had it bad." Katie laughed slightly.
"Katie, hurry up!" Deylinn screamed at the end of the road, tapping his foot and arms crossed dramatically.
Katie rolled her eyes, "Come here you." She grabbed the book and cradled him in her arms and started running towards the impatient boyfriend.
"Everyone ready to part?" Akasha asked softly.
Katie turned to Sophia, "You still want to stay here Soph?"
"Yeah Katie. Yeah I do." Katie started crying, "Aw, don't cry. We'll see eachother again."
Katie wiped her eyes, "Yeah I know. I am just going to miss all you guys. I have learned so much, and I even met my parents."
"Honey, it's not all that bad. Since you are going back before you changed, than you will be able to come see us whenever you like to." Dorion put in.
"Really?" Katie asked. Katie was about to open her mouth again but Akasha cut her off.
"Don't even ask. That question is for another time." Akasha smiled and hugged her daughter.
"Alright. Well let's go Dey. I am beat." Katie laughed.
"Yeah, me to." Deylinn took Katie's hand in his. "I love you Katelyn." He whispered in her ear.
"And I," She smiled widely. "Deylinn, love you."
He smiled lovingly. "This will be a story to tell our kids."
"Whoa, don't get to ahead of yourself buddy." Katie put in quickly.
"I'm not. Akasha take us home." Akasha nodded. "Bye everyone, we had.. fun."
"Bye!" Everyone replied in unison.
Than, they vanished.
"Ever think we will see them again?" Sergei asked.
John smiled, taking Susie's hand in is. "Yeah my old friend. I think we will."
THE END... just kidding...
Jolene entered her house at 5pm. Her eyes sunken from lack of sleep, her body thinning out dangerously. She sighed, it was another long day at the office. She switched on the radio and threw her keys in the little bowl by the door. She carried her radio to the kitchen. Making herself a coffee she fopped down on the kitchen table chair. Her fingers coming to her eyes, rubbing them softly.
"This just in, an incident happened not to long ago, no body can explain it. A witness reports that she seen a flash of purple and three people appearing out of a circle that we persume was a time warp. Reporters say the people coming out looked like the ones who went missing two weeks ago. Detective Slonan reports that its impossible for someone to come out of a hole, and one appearing out of no where. To the parents of the missing children, please listen it may have been a prank pulled by some neighbourhood kids. I advise you not to get excited. The third person, an other eye witness says that she looked exactly like the Katelyn but older. If you have seen or..."
Joelne shut the radio off, "Why can't they just leave it alone?" She asked sadly to thin air. She climbed the stairs lazily, walking slowly to her bedroom at the end of the hall. She opened her daughters room, looked in and continued walking, while tears were slowing running down her cheeks. "Aw Katelyn, I miss you." She got dressed, threw on a pair of brown slacks and a shirt large enough to fit an elephant. She sat on her bed pondering. Her face suddenly brightened and some color came back into her cheeks. She ran hard to Katie's room, looking in once again. Sure enough she seen two bodies in the bed.
Jolene approached slowly towards the bed, she bent over slightly to see the faces and she screamed. Making the two sleepers to fling out of bed, totally petrified.
Jolene started crying again, "Oh Katie! My Katie! Is it really you?"
"Mom?" Katie smiled, pouncing into her mother's arms.
"Oh my darling, it's really you!" Jolene hugged her daughter tightly.
"Mom... you're..squishing..me" Katie heaved.
"Sorry," She loosed her. "Deylinn," she ran and wrapped her arms around the taller boy.
"Hello Mrs. Anderson." Deylinn hugged back.
"When? Why? How?" Jolene suddenly asked.
"Long story mom." Katie yawned. "Dey, we should call your parents."
"Yeah. Right." Dey was about to grab the phone when Jolene suddenly grabbed it.
"No, I will phone them. You guys rest for a bit, I am going to make the best supper you guys have ever had." Jolene bounced out of the room happily.
"Wow, your mom sure knows how to ruin some one's dreams." Deylinn teased.
"Okay, that doesn't even make sense." Katie yawned sleepily. "Let's go back to sleep." She crawled back into bed, and seconds later she was out like a light.
Downstairs...
Downstairs, Jolene was doing many things. For instance, she was singing, cooking and trying to use the phone, well cleaning up. She phoned the police first, saying she found the two children. She frowned suddenly, she had completely forgotten about Sophia. She hung up with the police a few minutes later, than she got wise, phoning Deylinn's parents and put on speaker.
"Hello?" Deylinn's mom answered the phone.
"Hi. Alice? I am inviting your family for dinner. Don't ask questions, just be here in 15 mintues. I am going to make you and Frank the most happiest people in the world, aside from me." Jolene practically screamed.
"Jolene, are you on drugs?" Alice asked concerned. Tiredness clearly in her voice.
"I told you not to ask questions! But no I am not on drugs. Just hurry up and get here." Alice walked over to the phone. "See ya." And hung up.
Thirty minutes later, a fabulous feast was sitting on the table. Everything and anything was on the table. "Perfect." Jolene smiled happily. Just than the doorbell rang. "Goody." She bounced merrily to the door, opening it, her smile fell into a frown.
Deylinn's parents looked worse than she did. Their eyes were sunken, looked like they have been starved all their life. Alice's face was so pale you'd swear she was a ghost. "I am really glad you came. Where's Jordanne?" Jolene looked around.
"Right here Mrs. Anderson." Alice and Frank moved apart, to show a stranger.
"Jordanne? Is that really you?" She nodded. "Oh, well come in you three. I have a very good surprise for you." They nodded, and walked in. "Just go sit at the table. I have to go upstairs for a sec." She raced upstairs.
"Alright." Alice hollered.
Jolene walked into Katie's room once again. "Katie, darling, wake up. Supper is ready."
"Mmm." Katie murmed. "Food."
Jolene laughed. "Come on you two. Dey, your parents and sister are downstairs." Deylinn looked at her than raced downstairs.
"Let's just stay up her for a bit mom." Katie suggested.
"Good idea. Katie," Jolene paused a moment. "Where did you go?"
"Oh mom, it was an adventure that I would never forget." Katie replied merrily.
"So you weren't kidnapped?" Katie shook her head. "Than why didn't you tell me where you were?"
"Mom, Dey and I went through a book a couple weeks ago. We were in this other world or something. I.. I met," Katie paused nervously, "mom, why didn't you tell me you weren't my real mom?"
Jolene looked horrified, "how did you find out?"
"When I left, I seen them. I seen my real parents. And they're vampires!" Katie breathed.
"Vampires?" Jolene looked shocked. "Katie are you feeling alright?"
Katie nodded, "yeah, I am great. I am just glad I am back." Katie smiled.
"Katie, do you know where Sophia is?"
"Yeah. She fell in love and stayed behind."
"What?" Jolene raised her brow. "That's something I thought I would never hear you say."
"Same here, but it happened. So you can tell Roger that." Katie looked around her room. "Mom-- when I was there-- when I saw my real parents I didn't believe them, but I looked like them so much. And-- well I didn't want to think that you weren't my real mother."
"Katie, I will always be your mother. No matter what." Jolene smiled.
"I know mom. But why didn't you tell me-- what happened to them?"
"That is a story for another time darling." Jolene replied softly. "For right now, we are going to go downstairs and eat and talk about where you and Dey have been."
"Alright." The two headed downstairs.
"KATIE!" Jordanne squealed.
"Jordanne?" Katie blinked at the girl in front of her. "What happened to you?" They hugged eachother tightly.
"I don't know." She lied.
"Don't worry about all this now. Let's eat. I'm starved!" Deylinn smiled.
"Yeah, me too." Katie ran to the table.
"Apparently." Jolene said.
An hour later, they were all sitting in the living room, Roger was now sitting in there with them arriving when they were eating. Talking excitedly like anxious teenagers, about everything that has happened.
"Mom," Deylinn looked at his mom. "Why didn't you tell me I had a brother?"
Alice looked horrified, her brows furrowed and her lips clenched together. "How did you find out such a thing?"
"I saw him." If Frank wasn't holding Alice, she would have fainted.
"How is that possible? He disappeared years ago." Frank answered.
"But I saw him. We look like twins-- we are twins."
"Dey, we are sorry. Yes, you have a twin brother. Damien. He was kidnapped years ago, by this figure who was stalking our every move. We never seen his face so we could never have been able to track down." Frank mumbled loud enough to be heard.
"Enough with all this depressing stuff. We should be rejoicing that we got our children back." Jolene cut in abruptly.
"She's right. I am glad I have my brother and my best friend back" Jordanne smiled.
"Well tell us than. All that happened to you these past two weeks." Frank commanded softly.
"Well about two weeks ago, a strange thing happened. Me and Deylinn got sucked into a book, and landed in this other world..." And so Katie started to tell the tale of her and Deylinn's grand life adventure.
