a love that can't be bought

he saw the face of a woman

hiding behind my childish fear

i gave my love to him

so impulsive yet so willing

i swore myself to him

and put my heart in a box

so only he would have the key

all i asked for in return

was a few words of content

i stole myself from him one day

with all the courage i could

ran away with heart in hand

to worthy myself for him

i labor till i can't sleep

and yet my heart yearns for him

my eyes may fade away

my feet might break in stride

but as long as he lives on

my heart shall never die
