Little star

I gaze through this cold hard window

Into the night that lay on the other side,

Looking for hope in the darkness,

For a star in the midnight sky.

It shines so bright in the heavens,

Flickering and dazzling all seers.

But she is all alone in that abyss,

Trapped above us.

Forbidden to see the brightness of the sun,

The beauty of the day,

Hear the song of the birds.

Yet still she is envied by many and loved so.

If only they noticed her grief,

Her loneliness,

Her fear:

Fear of one day just fading out,

And seeing that nobody would care.

But it is too late,

Although we see her now,

In all her glorious marvel,

She had already drifted into nothingness,

Hidden from the world forever.
