Music

-

Badump

Badump

Badump!

Sometimes I hear the rhythm of the heart

The poet’s poem

Their visions across

The music that no one else seems to enjoy

-

-

-

Shh…

Can you hear it?

Badump

Badump

Badump!

Welcome to the writer’s hall

The concerto of paper and pen begin

And now let the stories flow

-

-

-

Badump

Badump

Badump!

The endless beats encourage movement

Wild, fervent, ecstasy-filled dancing

Pleasure at such passionate words

-

-

-

Badump

Badump

Badump!

The sound that unifies us all –

Yes, I know you

You’ve told your story before

Yes, you know me too

You’ve read and listened to me

And yes, we are the same

We dance to the same music

The same ‘badump’ rules our senses when we least expect it

The same people don’t understand the utmost respect we hold for each other

Because

Badump

Badump

Badump!

Takes more than mere human ears

And I know you’re one of the few who can anticipate that delicious sound

Because you’ve learned to listen

To what many perceive not to be there

I can…

(A/N: Someone once told me that poetry has to have rhythm and rhyme and that it wasn’t simply stringing words together, to which I agree, but then told me that what I wrote wasn’t poetry (I take offense to the ‘stringing words together’ part). Lots of poets are misunderstood, especially when they use free verse and/or try to be inventive with a new style. Poetry is such a big medium and there are so many different ways to explore it. You just have to appreciate it for what it is. That goes for writing and different types of art as well.
