Note: This is a new series of mine. It takes place around the beginning of Rebirth From Ruin and Beatdown Rage. It’s in the RSU (Ra’akone Showstopper Universe), so some stuff belongs not to me, but to Showstopper. Each chapter will be a letter. These letters are mostly from more minor characters. If you need a bit of background…it’s late August in 2025. All hell broke loose. 8-23 is the new 9-11. The President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the UK were assassinated by a teleport bomb. Nu’u Sara, capital of Ai’a’ivea, which is in the middle of an archipelago that was magically created, is now divided between many factions. ENJOY!
Letters From a Beseiged Country 1
Anushri Sharif
August 26th, 2025
Dear Karen,
How are you? I hope this letter reaches you in good health. I don’t know if the mail works, but I’m writing this anyways. This week I had my last day of school. I heard that my best friend, Aua, was kidnapped, just because she’s a princess, but now she’s ok. My school, the Sina Academy/Aoga Sina, no longer has classes. My dad says it’s now being used as a temporary Army barracks. Yesterday when I was out shopping with my mother, we had eggs thrown at us, just because we are Muslim and wear the hijab. An idiot with grey wings even shouted “Al Harb go home!” The Al-Harb aren’t true Muslims, if they actually read the Qu’ran they’d realize that Allah and the many Messengers (SAW) never said “go and kill innocent people.” And there’s nothing about Ai’a’ive being demons. My best friend is an Ai’a’ive. Most of my friends are. My family came from Bangladesh, but there aren’t that many of us around here.
Good news and bad news. The good news is that Al-Harb isn’t on our street. The bad news is that there are gangsters everywhere from the Mops, the Socializers, and Loco-Nuts. They all have tattoos of a golden gun. Inshallah the Enega Warriors will defeat them all. At least that’s what we hope. When I pray, I always end with a wish for the Warriors to be safe, and to clean out the filth from this city. We didn’t move to Nu’u Sara just so that we could be prisoners of a gang. I hate the gangs.
My dad did the unthinkable and told me to stop covering my head when I go out, so that way people won’t pick on me. But I feel I don’t belong. And the mosque our family prays at has been vandalized by five different gangs. Does nobody have any respect?
Karen, I hope you aren’t going through this. I know you’re not a Muslim, but are you also in a gang infested place? I’m sorry to hear about the assassination of your President, by the way.
Goodbye,
Your Sister, Anushri
PS I heard the Matriarch got back today, with the Enega Warriors! I’m so happy!
PPS My brother Mohammed drives me crazy. He can no longer go play cricket and football, I mean soccer, so he spends all the time listening to loud music and watching loud movies. I think the gang leaders should be punished by him! Let them be driven crazy. If I hear the song “Speedy Rush” again I will SCREAM!
