To many, things are too weird to be true...but they are

I remember things weren't really simple with me from birth

From prematurity to parasites to operations to life-disorder

Surely, things are really aren't fair...if you want to believe it

From a boy to a teen to a young man to a man, it's not normal

Even through school, things weren't normal, they were different

Everybody has their friends they met at school

I did too...until they all disappeared without a trace...

Or you just move away never to be heard from again

How about betrayals? Those weren't fair, not normal at all

Even just being quiet, reclusive, reserved, and even unstable

Things are never normal; not quite, just a bit weird

It's not fair that intelligent nice guys don't get to have the girls

“They don't have those types of feelings” they say!

So I may not be the guy that's popular, or is good at sports

I may turn in my homework, wear glasses, speak big words

But my heart has feelings and can be just as easily hurt

So it's okay to just pass off my feelings rudely

It's okay to think that I'm a nice guy

But to many that's just isn't enough

They'd rather have a guy that does the bad...oops, sorry

I meant the normal stuff like cursing, promiscuous, a bad guy who breaks the rules, just a bit crazy and evil

Instead of a guy that follows God, loves the Lord Jesus Christ

Treats women as sisters, men as respected brothers...

Values love, friendship, peace, and harmony

But no...they don't want that at all!!

They don't want love or peace, or an intelligent guy

I guess it would be better to sell drugs, rape women, and make a mockery of people that out of fear and trembling they respect me, look up to me, and say that “I'm a good guy.”

Hog wash!! There is no good in evil!

But you know something!! I'm not a typical guy!!

I'm a guy that loves Jesus Christ, that values love, friendship, peace, harmony, unity of fundamental beliefs in scripture, and hope for a future that involves victory for Christ

I am not a normal guy; sure, many things weren't fair

most things were not my fault; some of it was

I've lost friends because of what I value

I've lost love because I value true love, God

I've lost education opportunities because I valued comfort

I've lost myself only to gain Christ, the Lord

My best friend usually tells me, “You're an exception...”

An exception to the rule...I am really?

Many laugh because of what I have gone through

Many disbelieve because they can't “see it”

I don't see things, I believe in them

I have faith, I have hope, I have love

All I see is Christ being glorified through me

If I need to loose love, friends, happiness, possessions, family members, and even my work, all for the sake of Christ,

Then I am more than glad to be that which many have called me, exceptional!!

If this is the cost of being exceptional, then it's worth it
