This poem is one of the most intricate I've ever written. See if you can decipher it (the title is a big hint).


I hope against the gavel to win my bet.
applying (here) dark marker to erase,
so carefully I treat your yellowed face.
and (…) rearrange into a different poem,

Repentance, and that awful cry: (…) Repent!
Incriminating memory , as a tome
but (Truthful) in the book, cry, (Innocent!)
So now myself I try and circumvent

Applying my best efforts to forget,
that red tape, honesty. And seeing naught (…)
whose crucial verses I could splice from place (??)
I’ll mind not, should (omission) clear my debt.
