They say you can always talk to them

They tell you to lean on them when you cry

But when you need to

You can’t

You can’t because they are the ones who hurt you

They are the reason you cry

The pain in your heart is their doing

And you have nobody to turn to

To be alone

To be truly alone

You must first understand what you do not have

But you must also be unaware of what you do

As I wait here for the arms to surround me

I feel nothing

But when those arms are there to hold me

I will cry

I will be vulnerable when I am not alone

I will be untouchable until then

Nobody can hurt me

Not until they are close to me

I may believe myself fine

Tearless and painless until the end

But if you touch me

All will be well again

For pain is healthy

And the tears need to fall

In that moment of acceptance

My hear will heal and I will move on
