Not Today

Should’ve hid in the dark,
Let the screaming pass away;
Given up on the way to light,
Not today, too much pain to play;
All of you who held me down,
When I never said a word.

I’ll make my own way without you,
You won’t hold me down anymore;
Honey, you know I don’t want it,
Sick of these tears you’re raining;
I’ve grown up and found the truth,
You’ll never hurt me again.

Any moment now the whispers back,
Reaching out to my heart,
Pinning me to suffocation, wishing I was dead;
I won’t lose myself to you again,
Until I’m beaten senseless and can’t see;
Run away from time, I’ve found my way,
Through reflecting grey, not today.
